FAQS

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY PIANO BE TUNED?

We suggest residential pianos receive a tuning once a year. Pianos that are used for musical performances or rehearsals should be tuned two to three times per year or immediately before major events.

IS MY PIANO WORTH REPAIRING?

It is hard to put a price on sentimental value. Generational, family pianos are worth repairing if the instrument is tied to valued memories that help keep customers connected to their families. However, most pianos wear out over time and lose their former playing ability.

We offer full restoration services and can help find a cost efficient way to ensure the instrument is kept in the family.

We are also happy to help locate new or "new to you" instruments to fit any budget.

HOW LONG DOES A TUNING TAKE?

Every piano tuning is different. Many factors are at play when determining the length of the tuning appointment. The amount of time that has passed since the last tuning, the quality and age of strings, and necessary repairs can all effect the length of the tuning process. A standard tuning can last an hour and a half to two hours. Please allow at least three hours for a piano tuning appointment.

CAN MY PIANO BE TUNED?

Most pianos can be tuned. However, more than one tuning session may be required for older pianos, pianos that haven't been tuned in a while, or extremely out of tune pianos which may require a pitch raise.
Pitch raises often require two or more sessions.

WHAT IS A PIANO VOICING?

Piano voicing is the process of changing the quality of the tone the piano produces. It is possible to brighten or darken the tone of your piano. Piano voicing appointments take approximately three hours.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED?

Landrum's Piano Tuning accepts cash, check, and credit or debit card payments. We also will accept payment via CashApp.
